Elijah’s Insurance Career: From Broadcasting Graduate to Great Eastern Top Rookie

At 24, Elijah is building his career in Malaysia’s insurance industry with Great Eastern, focusing on continuous learning, responsible advice and helping people better understand financial protection.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting graduate from TAR UMT, Elijah entered the insurance industry in 2026. Coming from an insurance family, he was exposed to the profession from a young age and often saw how his parents helped families through important moments in their lives.

A strong start in his insurance career

Since joining the industry, Elijah has consistently attended training sessions and classes to improve his insurance knowledge, communication skills and understanding of clients’ needs.

Within less than a year, he achieved several milestones at the SICM “See You at the Top” Q1 & Q2 Event:

• Top Rookie Agent (QFYLP) — Champion
• Top Rookie Agent (NOC) — 1st Runner Up
• SES17 BKK Award — Standard Qualifier

He also qualified for the Great Eastern × SES 17 Bangkok Overseas Incentive Trip, marking another memorable achievement in his early career.

Why Elijah chose the insurance industry

For Elijah, insurance is not simply about selling policies. His goal is to help more people understand how insurance works and make better-informed decisions for themselves and their families.

He believes there is no single “best” insurance plan because everyone has different needs, priorities, financial situations and stages of life.

That is why he believes a responsible insurance advisor should first understand the client, explain the available options clearly and recommend suitable protection based on their needs.

Only the beginning

Elijah believes young people should give themselves opportunities to explore what they are capable of. For him, a career as an insurance advisor offers opportunities to grow professionally, expand his network, improve his knowledge and challenge himself to achieve more.

The awards are milestones along the way. He believes this is just the beginning, with bigger awards to work towards and bigger stages ahead. He is also grateful for the guidance from his agency leader and the constant encouragement from the partners who have been part of this journey.

His journey is about learning, growing, serving people and discovering how far he can go.
